I'm thrilled to work with her, Lookingglass, and also with some of my favorite Chicago actors.
Recipient of the 2011 Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre,
Lookingglass has built a national reputation for artistic excellence and
ensemble-based theatrical innovation. Notable world premieres include Mary
Zimmerman’s Tony Award-winning Metamorphoses, The Arabian Nights,
and The Odyssey, David Schwimmer’s adaptation of Upton Sinclair’s The
Jungle and Studs Terkel’s Race: How Blacks and Whites Think and Feel
about the American Obsession, and David Catlin’s circus tribute to Lewis
Carroll, Lookingglass Alice. Lookingglass’ work has been produced in more
than a dozen US cities.

J. Nicole
Brooks is a native Chicagoan and ensemble member of Lookingglass since 2007. On
stage she appeared in Summertime, RACE, and Fedra. As
an author she penned Black Diamond: The Years the Locusts Have Eaten, and Fedra: Queen of Haiti. Directing credits include Black
Diamond (Co directed with David Catlin), and Mr. Rickey Calls a
Meeting. She is currently developing new works thanks in part to her TCG Fox Fellowship, and most recently a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). She is an associate with Collaboraction Theatre Company, a blogger, and the newest resident of Brooklyn, New York
