Acting Stuff!

In the last couple years, I have put a lot of focus on my playwriting/screenwriting, music, and all things Pier Valentino. It has been a delight to let myself dig deeper into my own well of creativity and share more of myself and my voice as an artist.  I have been fortunate to have had acting opportunities come up here and there that have been rewarding, but I found myself unable to focus on auditioning for a while. This was not just an issue of having enough time. Focusing on making my own work shifted my priorities and wants as an actor. And I wanted to take a moment to honor that shift and see where it left me. It's not uncommon at all for actors to veer more into playwriting and directing like I have, and to leave their acting careers behind (to varying degrees). I can't deny that there is an alluring relief to being on the other side of the table, for me at least. And I considered this seriously as it is a valid and understandable choice to make. But there are also those that continue to act. But it becomes apparent to me in most of those that I admire who do so, that their work as writer/directors influences the things that they are a part of solely as actors. Or sometimes they wear multiple hats. I find that I still desire to act, but my desires to do so are more sharply focused then ever to working more in the realm of film and television. This is in part due to my dream of making my own film and tv, and wanting to learn more about it by doing it in all of the ways that I am capable. And I'm interested in working with artists who are bold, disciplined, and pushing the envelope--as I have a lot to offer those artists as an actor, and have a great deal to learn from them as a maker of work. So I've taken some time to slowly put myself back out there. First with my recent photo shoot, and in the last month, putting together some monologues, scenes, and also clips from films I've done. I'd love to work with representation that sees the range of possibility that I have to offer, as well as the passion, discipline, and professionalism I bring to the table. And I'd love representation that doesn't make me keep the many facets of myself and my artistry so separate.  I've put together two reels so far: A reel of monologues and a song, and a reel of 2 person scenes. I'm also re-editing my reel footage of my film work and will have that up soon, as well as footage for Pier Valentino. Shorter versions of these two reels are readily available by request. Thanks part people. Keep on rockin.

I had the great pleasure of returning for my third year as a playwright for Theatre Breaking Through Barrier's Playmaker's Intensive in November. I love writing for the company, and had a blast creating the short play 'The Emperor I of Bensonhurst and Various Parts of Bath Beach' for my delightful cast of 5, directed superbly by Kristin Heckler, in just one short but intensive week! I had the great honor and pleasure of directing 10 plays for The Stonewall 50 Event produced by Queens Theatre and performed in The Queens Museum, to honor the 50 year Anniversary of the Stonewall riots. I also had a play in the line-up of 50 pieces that were presented, which was directed by Katie Kay Chelena. Love!

A Genderqueer Homage To Italian Photographer Tina Modotti

Being visible, taking up space - being free in yourself and body - is often met with a systematic campaign, "Who do you think you are?" "...Non dormirai invano, sorella. Puro è il tuo dolce nome, pure la tua dolce vita:di ape, ombra, fuoco, neve, silenzio, spuma,d'acciaio, linea, polline, si è fatta la tua ferrea,La tua delicata struttura..."

"Defenceless under the night /Our world in stupor lies; /Yet, dotted everywhere, /Ironic points of light /Flash out wherever the Just /Exchange their messages: May I, composed like them /Of Eros and of dust,/ Beleaguered by the same /Negation and despair/, Show an affirming flame."
